  • Do you have a stubborn tennis elbow or plantar fasciitis injury that won’t go away? Have you tried other forms of conservative treatment with minimal to no change in your symptoms? Have you been told that you have chronic tendonitis or bursitis? If you answered YES, to any of the above questions, Radial Shockwave Therapy might be right for you!

Shockwave therapy is a highly effective and non-invasive treatment used to treat various bone, tendon and muscle conditions. Shockwave therapy uses high-energy mechanical sound waves creating strong impulses that trigger anti-inflammatory mechanisms in the body while inducing tissue regeneration. Shockwave therapy increases the production of nitric oxide, which aids in the down regulation of inflammatory cells in the injured area, removes scar-tissue, stimulates the growth of new blood vessels to provide greater blood flow to the affected area and stimulates new nerve cell formation. The latest research indicates that the healing process can be further accelerated when shockwave therapy is used in conjunction with Physiotherapy techniques such as Intramuscular Stimulation, Acupuncture and Mulligan technique.

  • Have you ever woken up and felt like your whole world is spinning? Have you had to lean against the wall to hold yourself up when walking? Well, you might be experiencing a dizziness or vestibular episode.

Dizziness is an umbrella term that is used to describe a variety of sensations. Those sensations include light-headedness, swaying, and feeling disoriented. Vertigo is a specific type of dizziness. It is described as an illusion of movement occurring in the environment. Clients would describe their vertigo symptoms as a sensation of self-spinning or the room is spinning. This sensation can be caused by crystals in the ear being misplaced, by chronic neck pain, or by the patient’s jaw. At our Cochrane clinic, one of our physiotherapists will work with you to determine the root cause of your dizziness and can fix it!

  • Do you have aches and pains that do not seem to go away? Has an X-ray, CT Scan or MRI showed no visible sign of injury but your pain persists anyways? Have you been suffering with chronic neck, back, shoulder, arm or leg pain? If you answered YES, to any of the above questions, IMS may be for you!

AN-Intramuscular Stimulation, or IMS, is a total system for the diagnosis and treatment of myofascial pain syndromes (chronic pain conditions that occur in the musculoskeletal system when there is no obvious injury or inflammation). IMS explains a large category of pain in a new way. Instead of presuming pain to be signals of tissue injury, IMS blames pain on “unwell” nerves.  IMS has introduced an examination technique that shows neuropathy to occur, almost invariably, at the nerve root.  IMS’s radiculopathy model explains many apparently different and unrelated pain syndromes from headaches to low back pain, from tennis elbow to trigeminal neuralgia.

  • Are you experiencing jaw pain or clicking? Ear pain? Tight jaw muscles? Headaches? The temporomanibular joint (TMJ) is located directly in front of your ear and is a part of the body that we use many times during the day when we talk, yawn or chew food.

At Natural Balance, we can help! The physiotherapists at out Cochrane clinic are experts in the treatment of issues that involve TMJ. Edmonton men, women and children who suffer from TMJ dysfunction benefit from the personalized treatment that an Natural Balance TMJ specialist can provide.

  • Manual Osteopaths recognize a patient as an integrated whole. They work to maintain, improve and restore the normal physiological function of interrelated body structures and systems, enhancing the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Manual Osteopathy utilizes a variety of techniques to address imbalances in the body, from a whole body perspective. This includes treating muscles, bones, joints and fascia through the soft tissues of the body to achieve and maintain structural balance and health.

  • Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve pain and muscle tension throughout the body. This type of massage is extremely beneficial because it reaches the deepest layer of muscles, fascia (connective tissue surrounding the joints) and tendons. The goal in deep tissue massage is to breakdown adhesions (tense areas within the muscle). Adhesions in the muscle are very important to address because they cause pain, inflammation and limit motion of the muscles and joints.

    Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic Massage Is the mobilization of soft tissue (such as muscle, fascia and body fluids) to restore normal functional use. It can be used to assist in the treatment of most musculo-skeletal and associated problems, and regular Therapeutic Massage Therapy results in improved circulatory, lymphatic and neurological functioning.
