Meet the Founders

We (Mitch & Nina) began our western adventure in the spring of 2016 when we relocated to Alberta from Prince Edward Island. We chose to settle in Cochrane for the 'home town feel' we grew up with on the east coast. We love the accessibility to the mountains and proximity to amenities in the city. We have a passion for getting outdoors, hiking, camping and exploring the Rockies. Natural Balance was born out of our own desire for adventure, unplugging and experiencing life to the fullest. We want to help people experience the freedom to choose their own adventures.

OUR Team

Registered Massage Therapist

Nina became a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) in 2009. After a while, she began experiencing pain from repetitive movement and overworking. She decided to withdraw for a time from the career she loved to focus on recovering. She personally knows the frustration of chronic pain and the impact it has on our ability to function in the capacity we desire. Nina returned to school to complete her Diploma in Manual Osteopathy from the National Manual Osteopathic College in Red Deer, Alberta. Nina is clinic lead at Natural Balance.

Lara completed training in reflexology for the head, hands and feet in 2016. As a member of the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada she practices somatic, gentle reflexology that helps the body recover its balance and restore well being. She also completed a 2-year training in Spiritual Healing developed from the philosophy of Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama that focuses on deep understanding and integration of the mind-body connection. Lara can also be found practicing and teaching yin/yang yoga and tai chi; facilitating sessions in trauma recovery; and is a freelance editor and writer. In her spare time, you will find her reading or hiking (but never at the same time).
