What is

Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a safe, gentle, and completely natural state of deep relaxation wherein we can access the unconscious mind to get to the root of a problem, heal deep traumas, and release you from any unconscious beliefs holding you back in your life.

Many people are surprised to find that we enter a state of hypnosis about every 90 minutes throughout the day and night. You may have heard about the different brain waves such as: Alpha, Theta, Delta, Gamma. With Hypnotherapy we bring you into two of these: Alpha and Theta. These all represent different levels of awareness.

  • Alpha is as simple as any time you are watching a movie or reading a book and you are so engrossed in it that everything around you fade away, this is light hypnosis.

    Theta is just one step up from that and it is those larger amplitude waves where you feel so deeply relaxed and peaceful. In these two states we can access the unconscious mind.

    There are two parts to our mind: the conscious mind and the unconscious mind.

    The conscious mind is where we hold our identity and where we experience our everyday life.

    The unconscious mind is the part of our mind which holds all our information.

    The unconscious mind knows every thought you have ever had, everything you have ever felt, all your memories, and so much more. Your unconscious mind is very powerful in your life. We tend to think that we say and do things because we decided to, but 95% of our thoughts and 85% of our actions are determined by the unconscious mind.

    Your unconscious mind has one job and one job only, and that is to keep you safe. Any behaviors your unconscious mind compels are ones that it believes are keeping you safe.

    Any time you are in a moment of trauma, feeling unloved, feeling not enough, the unconscious mind is scanning your surroundings to figure out what is causing it. Once it believes it has found what the cause is, it says “this right here will never happen again”. And just like that a new belief is created.

    The problem with this is that sometimes the unconscious mind takes on a belief in error.

    Another problem is that many of our beliefs were taken on when we were very young, and the beliefs that keep us safe as dependent children are the same beliefs that will hold us back as adults. However, these beliefs will continue run in the background, compelling your behaviors, until your unconscious mind is told to let them go. And the only way to do that is through Hypnotherapy.

What to expect during your Free Zoom Consultation

The main point of this Free Consultation is so we get a chance to chat so you can get to know me before booking a session.

I will start by explaining Hypnotherapy and how it works, and you will be able to ask me any questions you may have. After this you will be able to talk with me about what is going on in your life, and I will then let you know how Hypnotherapy can help you personally.

Once we are done, if you feel called to book a session, I will walk you through the process of doing this.

  • A: Hypnosis is a completely natural state that we cycle through day and night, and so we do this all the time without realizing it. Therefore, everyone can be hypnotized.

  • A: No. You are in control of your body and what you choose to say at all times. You are not “knocked out” when you do Hypnotherapy. You are just extremely relaxed.

  • A: Most people remember everything or at least most of it. I always record every session and send you a copy of the whole session in case you would like to listen to it.

  • A: Your unconscious mind will always do everything to keep you safe. It will never show you a memory you cannot handle.

  • A: Most times, for one issue, one session is enough.

  • A: Traditional talk therapy is great because it can help you identify your triggers and give you tools on how to deal with those triggers, but it can never release the beliefs you are holding.

  • A: Each session is two hours. The first part is spent talking and answering questions, the second part is the Hypnotherapy itself which typically lasts about 1-1.5H.
